Our Vidyalaya

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Kupwara was established in 11th September, 1986 in accordance with NPE-1986.

It is situated in Village Putushai in Lolab valley of Jammu & Kashmir, 10km from Kupwara city and 110km from Srinagar city. .


  1. To provide high quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children predominantly from rural areas.
  2. To ensure that students attain level of competency in three languages.
  3. To promote National Integration through migration of students from Hindi to non- Hindi speaking States and vice-versa.
  4. To serve in each district as focal point for improvement of quality of school education through sharing of experiences and facilities.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Lolab, District Kupwara, falls under Chandigarh region headed by Deputy Commissioner Sh. K.S Guleria.

The chain of Navodaya Vidyalayas is managed by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti which is an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary Education and Higher Education. The Samiti functions through an Executive Committee under the Chairmanship of the Union Minister of Human Resource Development. Union Minister of State for Education is the Vice- Chairman of the Samiti.
